A Broadway Icon

When people think of the hit musical Chicago, images of stark contrasting lights, smarmy characters, dazzling dance routines, and slickly sweet snappy tunes are just some of the motifs that come to mind.

In an attempt to distill a performance of Chicago at the Annapolis Summer Garden Theater down to its most primal forms I decided to mash up two iconic metaphor sets: sex and danger. Each of the posters in this series features a hero graphic with both icon categories intertwined – just like they are in this Fosse/Watkins/Ebb masterpiece.
